The artist in her studio, photographed by Jamal Springer-Lynch

Emily North born 1994 in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, is an artist currently based in London. She has studied at the Glasgow School of Art (architecture), Newcastle University, and the Royal Drawing School. She holds MAs from Kings College London (‘Radical Act: an Examination of Zine Culture’) and Camberwell College of Art in Fine Art Drawing. At Camberwell she developed a body of work exploring the importance of youth culture and nightlife and attempted to answer the question ‘How can one communicate the experience of memory as a constructed fantasy in the context of nightlife and clubs?’ through the installation Deterioration, 2021.

Previously exhibited by the Royal Society of British Artists and Dazed Magazine and Emily has shown work in venues across London including the Copeland Gallery and the Soho Revue Gallery.

Emily has recently shown a new body of work exploring the relationship between memory and place and the sense of belonging for her debut solo show Crawling Home On Bloody Knees which opened at Lamb’s Tail Gallery 17th July 2025. She is the artist in residence at Reference Point art library, for whom she is working on a book.

In October 2025 her work I Don’t Think About You At All, 2024, was shown as part of the pop up installation ‘Freeze’, an art exhibition in a children's play tent curated by Angelica Jopling of Incubator Gallery and hosted in collaboration with Reference Point. The show also featured works by Jake Chapman, Charlie Gosling, Corbin Shaw and Sam Taylor Johnson.

She has been part of the alternative art school Conditions online programme since November 2024.

She has previously been a guest lecturer at London Southbank University.

Emily North is currently available for commissions.
